The 20% Rule®

How to ensure your small business is safe, sustainable and profitable.

Hi, I’m Catherine and I’m currently busy writing my second book.

Early on in my business I was reliant on one client for a majority of my income, so when I stopped working with her I had to go and get an employed job (shudder) for a couple of months until I replaced the lost income. Being employed is not where my heart lies, running my own business is. So, from that day forward I decided I was never going to be in a situation where my business is not solid enough to stand up to storms or reliant on one person.

From here, I devised The 20% Rule® – no one client should take up more than 20% of your time, or your income.

In my new book I guide you through how to ensure your business, your dream, is safe and sustainable.

Not only do I help you implement The 20% Rule® I also share everything I have done in my own business to ensure it’s safe and sustainable whatever happens.

In 2019 I had to take four months out of my business to have my third brain tumour removed. Obviously, I couldn’t work during this time, but I had no loss of income!

I’m also okay during this current global situation – the Coronavirus pandemic.

Everything I’ve done and continue to do is easy to implement in any service based small business.

It takes hard work to run a business and I take no prisoners, I accept no excuses.

So, if that’s okay, you’ll love my book and all it has to offer.

Why am I sharing all this in a book?

Because I want to gloat! Ha, no far from it. If you know me, whether in real life or virtually, you’ll know I am far from one of those! I am sharing it because I firmly believe we all deserve a happy, healthy, stress free working life.

What was your first book?

This bad boy, How to be a Virtual Assistant, which has surpassed all my expectations. I wanted to sell about ten copies when I released it. It’s since been a bestseller lots  of times, above Simon Sinek, Seth Godin and some guy called Elon Musk. It’s also won two awards, the Virtual Assistant Voice Awards, where those voting are a mix of VAs and small business owners. Here is it.
